"Good place to stay" The Novotel is a modern style of hotel. From the outside a rather ugly 70s style building. Inside though is is bright, well decorated and really very welcoming. Checkin was quick and efficient as well as friendly which was something I noticed from all the staff during my stay. The bedroom is very big and appeared to have been refurbished quite recently. The bathroom however, although very clean, is somewhat tired and appears to have missed out on the redec that the bedroom has recieved. Dinner was good, with a choice of 2 menus, and I liked the idea of having the full restaurant menu available for the room service, without having the high mark up that is so chareteristic of hotels. I have to say the breakfast selection was very good and really better than I had expected from a "chain" hotel. The hotel seems to be more geared for the business traveler in terms of design but the size of the room together with the fact that there is a double and single bed means it is probably fine for a weekend break. There is an outside pool which stuck me as odd for the UK but would be a big bonus for kids if it was ever warm enough during the day. It does happen sometimes I suppose.
